* Literature Response * Chapter 1 Souls of Black Folk

This chapter and also being the start of this book the Souls Of Black Folk is very important to understand because is the beginning. The book was written by Mr. W.E.B Du Bois which in fact was a well known man for his accomplishments. He made lots of things happen and as everybody else he had his beliefs in what he thought was the best for his black people and he had followers. The first chapter opens this page in his life and relates with his beliefs according to how he thought blacks will prosper in life to be the great and smart people that they are. Throughout the chapter it seems that the tone, the flourish detail, and the logos is present much of the time and this as well will help us understand the concept that is being lead to us in those particular ways.

First we will start in the details. The details are fairly strong and in fact helps keep the chapter understood and keeps the interest in the reader. An example would be this sentence, I know an excellent colored man in my town. The detail describes the man as being colored an excellent may show respect but the word colored becomes stronger in that specific sentence. Another example would be, with other black boys the strife was not so fiercely sunny. Being such sentence the its pretty complex. Once again a person like everybody else is being describe as a colored and the part were it said strife was not so fiercely sunny mans that they try as hard as they can but it not recognize the way it should. Also something else was the tone and for this chapter his tone would having a since of thought like wondering why us blacks have to go through this.
Then comes the logos which was very strong in the first chapter alone. The first example would be the sentence, after the Egyptian and Indian, the Greek and roman, the Tueton and Mongolian, the negro is the sort of seventh son. The n word is being seen as the seventh son and in the comparison with lots of other religious just to prove one more time that everybody is the same and it doesn’t what color you are they can do anything that they would be capable of doing. Another example would be in the words that they use such as American republic and emancipation or relation with the fifteen amendment. It well done because you see that he knows what he is doing and must be right in what his argument his saying his has a mind of it own.
