* Literature Response * Chapter 1 Souls of Black Folk

This chapter and also being the start of this book the Souls Of Black Folk is very important to understand because is the beginning. The book was written by Mr. W.E.B Du Bois which in fact was a well known man for his accomplishments. He made lots of things happen and as everybody else he had his beliefs in what he thought was the best for his black people and he had followers. The first chapter opens this page in his life and relates with his beliefs according to how he thought blacks will prosper in life to be the great and smart people that they are. Throughout the chapter it seems that the tone, the flourish detail, and the logos is present much of the time and this as well will help us understand the concept that is being lead to us in those particular ways.

First we will start in the details. The details are fairly strong and in fact helps keep the chapter understood and keeps the interest in the reader. An example would be this sentence, I know an excellent colored man in my town. The detail describes the man as being colored an excellent may show respect but the word colored becomes stronger in that specific sentence. Another example would be, with other black boys the strife was not so fiercely sunny. Being such sentence the its pretty complex. Once again a person like everybody else is being describe as a colored and the part were it said strife was not so fiercely sunny mans that they try as hard as they can but it not recognize the way it should. Also something else was the tone and for this chapter his tone would having a since of thought like wondering why us blacks have to go through this.
Then comes the logos which was very strong in the first chapter alone. The first example would be the sentence, after the Egyptian and Indian, the Greek and roman, the Tueton and Mongolian, the negro is the sort of seventh son. The n word is being seen as the seventh son and in the comparison with lots of other religious just to prove one more time that everybody is the same and it doesn’t what color you are they can do anything that they would be capable of doing. Another example would be in the words that they use such as American republic and emancipation or relation with the fifteen amendment. It well done because you see that he knows what he is doing and must be right in what his argument his saying his has a mind of it own.

Lit Response On The Awaking of The Negros

This is a great story and is very interesting to read. Booker T did a great job on the part where an author gains and keeps the attention living in with in the reader. The storytalks about this people that are not respected and they only wnat a better life that you could say it seems kind of crazy orthey doesn’t realize what they are worth. This people work hard evrey day just to make a better day for their families.lady’s husband is a doctor that take care of her. This is what I am talking about the story right now might sound really boring. use many techniques to keep you droved in the story. One thing that is noticeable is the vivid details that are provide in the story. Also the symbolism was brought out of it too as an important key factor of getting you into the story. The story has many important techniques throughout its whole but today these two will be taught to you in more detail.
The first key factor would be the amount of details that were provided throughout the story. The amount of details were great and it help keep the interesting level on. An example of this would be the following sentence, There is a delicious garden! I never saw such a garden large and shady, full of box-bordered paths, and lined with long grape-covered arbors with seats under them. This is great example of the type of detail that was found within the story. To begin with these detail are catchy they bring your attention to it. The word delicious that is describing the garden makes you think that the garden is fresh it probably has juicy fruits. That’s how it gets you to keep up the reading and another Example sentence of these detail is, when she describe the yellow wall paper. The color is repellent, almost revolting; a smouldering unclean yellow, strangely faded by the slow turning sunlight. With this sentence by the detail you know that she dislike this in any way possible. The words such as repellent and revolting show the dislike between her as a person and the wallpaper.
The next key factor that is very important is the symbolism that is found in my mind throughout the story. The first thing that I believe is a symbol is the yellow wallpaper. I think the wallpaper stands out for her sickness this is the object that makes her act like she is showing like she is crazy and gives her these fancies. the wallpaper hurts her in so many ways that is like killing her slowing or eating her up. These can be related because the obsession she shows through the story as desperate for that wallpaper and that all she talks about which shows that she worry’s about a lot of the time. The next symbol I think is very important is her husband john I think he stands for her safety and that the only person that keeps her up its like he is her protector. That the end and know you know the key factors of what keeps the reader interested.

In the article it talks about a political satire or the use of wit, especially irony, sarcasm, and ridicule, to criticize faults. Which is found to be very interesting. It seems to be a piece of weekly memo sent to the British prime minister Gordon Brown by some secret organization of the Labour Party mostly specializing in political spin or disinformation. In this part of the edition the important organization discusses and as anything else they might also have a disagreements with the actions of David Davis , who mysteriously resigned to his conservative Party seat in the parliament in the protest the passage of the preventive detention legislation backed up by the only Brown.

This article also follow s the same script as to having a political satire within it self as a whole. The text is also from the weekly memo in some way or fashion. Also that he is doing really good and that everything he does is excellent and that everything right, not knowing that they really don’t feel that way about him.

Lit Response On The Yellow Wallpaper

This is a great story and is very interesting to read. Charlotte Perkins did a great job on the part where an author gains and keeps the attention living in with in the reader. Lit Response 2page

As many authors as they might be. There is not even one that doesn’t make mistakes or needs something added in their writing to make it even greater than it all ready is. The one that we will be talking about is Mr. Poe. With his amount of stories every single one being great but also having some type of floss which is not a mistake but something that can become better is a lot to be talked about. “The Pit And The Pendulum” is a great short story of his that had lots to be talked about, In good and in improving ways. Many people believe that compared to his other stories it contrast his beliefs in which he became involve in with this story. There is many to be talked about such as the word diction , the comparisons that he makes throughout the story and also the life that he gives or creates within something or someone.
To start with we will concentrate in the comparisons that he has made thru out the story “The Pit And The Pendulum”. one very important one that is very interesting is when in the begins of the story where his sees the seven candles he compares them to angels. In which is also said that it first dissolve in his mind into seven angels wearing an “aspect of charity”. my believing in why he would see these candles as angels would be that he is a religious man and at time of fear or sorrow he thinks of god or something good that will take his mind off the things that are bad. Also its very good of the things that he compares to the bible I see this important because as a believer there wouldn’t be no buts or what because you’ll know that it true , it the word of the lord. Something that I find wrong doing this might be that Mr. Poe is playing to safe. Another thing that might looked wrong is if as a author he doesn’t share this idea why would he even use it if he never had.
Now we move on to the word diction and figurative language. Mr. Poe was very worthy of what words he use and whether it was helping the reader understand what he said or believe at a certain time. An example of this would be like if he was talking about death or a moment of depression. He absolutely use words that would bring you in that state of mind he would use words such as difficult, sad , black down word with close meanings. He also use this simple same technique while talking about the word clean or nice he used words such as pure, white, snow and all of this was use for the better of the reader for a much better understanding about the concept be talked about.
Most of the story “The Pit And The Pendulum” was great and as said before anything is worthy of a opinion whether is good or bad. This story the first time being read was very difficult to understand. About the second to third time you could really see what type of author Mr. Poe is . With his great comparisons and word dictions mostly everything was able to be understood the way it had to be. But my advice would be to do something much easier so some of the concepts would be more understandable. But rather than that the story was great and interesting. This story was written to catch someone attention and the goal was accomplish.

Aren't I a Woman?

This short essay written by Sojourner Truth. She is about a former slave. Also at that moment when she is consider not a slave anymore she doesn’t waste any time to make rights for her and all the women that are not treated the way they have to be treated like. As many women at that time felt discriminated she wanted to fight for the right that white women had which were supposedly the pure one. But what I argue is what is the different about the color women than to the white . God should be in this argument because god made us all equal and nobody has the liberty to change what has already written. The following is what she argues with much detail of what she believed. This was that all women were equal and so as they were to the man. Simply it means what it is everybody is equal no matter what and no matter the color.
To begin with the first line that I found interesting was when she says that men over their says that woman need to be carried over the mud and carried on top of the carriage.

Questions ?

1. I think keeping in the mind of the occasion Lincoln did in fact miss something . i think it was description . Throughout the writing he states that people did this and they did that . He should have put something more specific like scholars or the actual name of this people to make it more strong.

2.that everybody should be dictated and that their dead would never be vain, what they accomplish to do here would be for the better and would never be forgotten. the sentence is very strong not only because it is the lats one but because and concludes what he has been trying to say along. The sentence brings his point to an end. The effect it may have to the people might be the since of thought they would be able to think about what they did and that it was for a good cause nothing was done in vain.

3. In my thought both of these pieces were written to freedom. both these men wanted their people not to give up and fight for what may belong to them. In a part it was to see how strong they were and to see if they handle it.the difference would be that the declaration was like a set of rules and the speech were words it was up to you to take it further.

4.Some speeches that i have heard always have a strong introduction and are very smooth. the details are presented nicely and the argument has a vivid image. they have always stated their purpose and try or keep the audience interested. Compare to Lincoln both don't really state the peoples named but rather just state "the people"

The Scarlet Letter Questions

The Custom House

1. What is the primary Purpose for the custom house introduction?

What i think the purpose for the custom house introduction was simply to let the reader know before actually starting to read the book how his life was in it and what type of person he was also what kind of people live within him. Also he probably wanted people to have a better understanding of what is going to happen throughout the book while really not giveback any clues about it.The introduction was a kind of through back because it was very complex and some what hard to understand well. it was very deep in other words.

2. What Significant change does Hawthorne admit to making in telling the story contained in the diary?
One of the significant change that Hawthorne goes through when he talks about his diary is that he only thinks and talk about himself and family. At the time being he only concentrates on tell people what he went through and takes their mind out of the actual story which i think was a great idea. also i think he does this to prepare the reader of what really is going to happen making the reader eve more interested. He makes the reader think and becomes to feel suspense.

3. What potential impact will this change have on the story?
The impact that this would have on the story would be much but it does make the story become more interesting because is like you know what your are getting to but not really. It helps bring the part of that something within the story will be discover and that it is probably bad. It takes you there but not really.

Anne Bradstreet

Anne Bradstreet is a great writer in the history of poetry. Anne Bradstreet was born Anne Dudley in north Amptom England 1612. As a women she didn't receive as much education. So therefore she didn't attend school, but her dad gave her tutors. Bradstreet as a women very much dislike the way the were treated and the cause being that they were women. In the eyes of other women should always be in the house cleaning, cooking, and being much of a housewife. This effected the women because they never had a chance to set a goal. Growing up was pretty hard for her but she found a men a very important man in her life that meant alot to her which name was Simon Bradstreet, this man would eventually become her husband . Simon played an important part in Anne's life and her writings. She always wrote poems about him and the true love that she always had for him. Probably they were very close and loved each other very much. She wrote to show the love they had when she wanted and felt it necessary.

Being said that Anne and her husband were very much in love and close to each other, not leaving behind that in fact she wrote poems about him for him.One of the poems that she wrote about him would be" To My Dear and Loving Husband". In this poem she writes to her husband saying in words and in between words how much she loves him. The diction in her poems show that the most, meaning the love that she is trying to portray in her writings. Words such as loved, happy, my love, thy love are all repeated at least one time throughout the poem. This shows a Strong relation towards her husband and that they really cared for each other and connect within themselves. She also repeats the words "if ever" in my opinion she is saying that if god gives her gives her life that life she will use it to love. Also that her love is not easy to forget and she hopes that he will not forget about the love they had for each other in the other life from this one. This come to conclusion that love is stronger than any other obstacle in the world, and that real love love could never be broken if it is real and eternal.

The next poem that was analyzed was the poem that Bradstreet wrote called" The Author To Her Book". This also one of her great accomplishment that she has done. All her poems have a strong meaning that you must read it over many times to be able to comprehended its texture and what's she trying to say throughout her writing. most of her writings are very complex. What i got out of this poem was that she was trying to say that when sometimes they are famous ,people tend to make up stories this people would be consider the press. but what they don't realize is that they are hurting someone . Not leaving behind that their the same as other people and that they are not perfect they have defects too, they are normal and would like to be treated as such. Some line that show what i am trying to argue would be "Press to trudge and i washed thy face but more defects i saw and rubbing off a spot still made flaw. If i didn't know better she probably did feel that way.

Picture Anlyasis of Cabeza De Vaca

The pictures I chose to do my analysis on were a picture where cabeza de vaca is on the top and a whole a lot of people are behind him. I pick this picture because it shows how the Indians took him in without no problem also because they got use to him and his crew fairly easy. Therefore De Vaca also was happy that he did get received and accepted the way he did. Cabeza De Vaca always talk very good of the Indians that help him through his journey while getting lost and was very thankful. Him and his crew got use to the Indians customs and religion which help them survive. The Indiana people were very kind and the little they had they didn't cared if they had to share it with a lot of people. They believe that if they help somebody, another person will be willing to help them in their stage of need. Another picture I place was a symbol for friendship . I pick this symbol for the reason that is the best way to describe the Indians or the way the Indians help DeVaca and his crew. The Indians trusted this people and gave them their friendship . Thanks to them they were able to survive, in the long and hard journey.

Picture that Represents My Stance/ Christphor Columbus

I pick two pitures that shows the stance I have acording to the writting of chrisphor columbus. the first picture shows how columbus started of very good and he did what ever he had to do to accomplish his goal. in the begining everything was going fairly well , he was working hard. the other pictuers is a picture of someone crying i pick this picture because it shows the time that christphor columbus was in his bad moment. This happen in his fourth voyage when he got kipnapped with his brother. What i wanted the pictures to show was that even though you may start good it doesn't mean everything is going to go that way. meaning that sometimes you work harder for other stuff than others. But even if this is happening you doen't give up , you stand back up and get back in the game.
